JURGITA CESEVICIENE

About

Specializing in the chemical composition and technological quality of agricultural plants and cereal grains, with a focus on food, feed, and energy resources. Expertise also includes research of soil and plant chemical composition effected by separate agrotechnological practices—such as fertilization, variety, tillage, and intercropping. During researcher career, collaborated on 17 scientific projects funded by ERA-NET Co-funds, European Structural Funds, Lithuanian Council of Science, Lithuanian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Program. Have researched such topics as circularity in mixed crops and livestock farming systems with emphasis on climate change mitigation and adaptation; quality of winter wheat varieties for amylose-free starch and vital gluten processing; quality of cereal varieties in the sustainable agriculture; multifunctionality of C3-C4 herbaceous plants; potential of perennial legumes as source of value added ingredients for functional food; quality of raw and conserved feed; production of alternative biomass sources (including alternative protein production and technologies); biopotential of energy plant sources; quality diagnostics of biogas production by-products; quality of various organic fertilizers and its influence on soil and plants. Has completed two internships in Denmark, Copenhagen university (2008, 3 months) and Poland, University of Warmia and Mozury (2018, 2 weeks). Since 2017, as part of the LAMMC program 'Plant Biopotential for Multifunctional Use and Sustainability of Agroecosystems,' has been leading a research topic team focusing on plant nutrition, feed value, and healing components under new technologies, sustainable environment, and changing climate. Since 2022 accredited to provide advice on organic crop issues. Advised/ing 3, supervised 1 PhD student. Is a member of the editorial boards of 3 scientific open access journals - 'International Journal of Celiac Disease', publisher Science and Education; Topical Advisory Panel member of 'Plants', publisher MDPI; 'Sustainable Agriculture and Environment', EnPress Publisher. Also was a guest editor of few special issues, article reviewer and an external expert for Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office projects’ evaluation.
